It started as a nice summer day; I was climbing with the cable car from Busteni to Babele in Bucegi mountains, thinking of a two-hour hike to Omu Chalet.
Once I reached the Bucegi Plateau, it was clear I had to cancel my plans, as clouds were gathering fast and I could hear here some distant thunders. Hoping that the storm will change its path, I went to the nearby “Floare de Colt” for a cup of tea.
It turned out that we were in the direct path of the storm, and I took this picture just moments before the rain started. A bit of a frightening experience, even inside the chalet, with lightning striking only a few meters away from us.
But in the end everything turned out fine, the storm unleashed its rage for about one hour, then the sun came out and the rest of the day was perfect for my hike on top of the mountains.
Nowadays both Babele Chalet and Floare de Colt are closed, the only shelter for bad weather in Babele area is the little bar at the cable car remains.
